About Face Guidelines
About Face exists to provide a safe space for servicewomen, veterans, advocates and other concerned individuals to candidly promote the discussion of issues facing and influencing our community. Our purpose is to bring real voices and compelling analysis to issues that women face while serving in the U.S. military and afterwards. We hope About Face will provide a forum for a variety of discussions among current military personnel, veterans and those who support them.
In order to maintain a safe and constructive online environment, anti-military, anti-women, anti-men, homophobic or other derogatory postings are not permitted. SWAN believes offensive posts and comments have no place on our site and are not in keeping with our Mission, Vision and Values statements. We want the discussions on our site to be as productive as possible, and as such, SWAN reserves the right to determine which submissions are appropriate for posting.
Specifics on what is NOT allowed on the SWAN blog:
- Personal attacks
- Hate speech (racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.)
- Offensive language (uses of any derogatory terms singling out specific populations)
- Victim blaming (suggesting that survivors of sexual trauma or other abuse are responsible for their own assault or harassment)

SWAN regularly publishes blog posts anonymously at the request of the writer, but we must be able as an organization to identify the writer, either over the phone or by email. This is standard journalistic procedure. We will not put any of the identifying info in the blog, also standard journalistic procedure fir anonymous sources.
