My name is Nellina Lofton and I am so pleased to see the milestone finally taking place. I was in the military in 2001 and I was sexually abused by my drill sergeant during the months of June and July 2001. I reported the abuse of sex and physical abuse but nothing was done. I have received counseling but the VA contend those events never took place. The NCO and the CO were reprimanded but I am not being treated for PTSD or sexual assault. I suffered a spine injury while in the military and when I was asked what steps did I want to take place, I requested to be discharged from the military. The injuries are ever present and because I was placed on bed rest, my drill sergeant found it necessary to come to my room when I was alone or come to the end of the hall while I was placed on 7pm to 2am duty for requesting to be discharged. My drill sergeant fondled me everyday until I was discharged. Today, I am not in a relationship because I can not adjust to the touching. There were many who proved the allegations were true but the VA to me that the military could not be sued so I would have to deal with it. My VA counselor told me I just had to deal with and move on 10 years ago.
